10 Travel Grants to attend the 10^th Congress of the International Association for Lichenology (IAL 10)

The “Bryolohisch-Lichenologische Arbeitsgemeinschaft Mitteleuropas” (BLAM) is proud to announce a call for 10 travel grants for the upcoming IAL10 symposium to support Master- and PhD students to attend the 10th Congress of the International Association for Lichenology (IAL10). The scholarships are reserved for Master's and PhD students who do not receive reimbursement of travel expenses from their institutions.

The prize consists of € 500.- to cover the IAL10 congress fees and to be used for travelling to the IAL10 and for accommodation costs during the congress.

Submission

Submission is open to Master- and PhD students currently registered for a Master- or a PhD program based research relevant to lichenology.

Application

Applicants should complete the form (Annex A, download here) available at the end of this call and send it together with the required documents (see below), to ulrike.ruprecht@plus.ac.at December 31st, 2025 at the latest.

Applicants must provide all the following documents in English:

▪ Contact address, telephone, e-mail address

▪ Details of current registration for a Master's or PhD program

▪ Confirmation of the submission of a contribution (poster, flash talk or oral presentation) to the IAL10, which will be automatically generated and sent by the abstract submission system.

Selection

1. The evaluation panel is composed of two members selected by the Steering Committee of the BLAM.

2. The first 10 registrations will be considered; further registrations will be placed on a waiting list.

3. The judgment of the evaluation panel is final and will be based solely on the documents

submitted.

Grant awarding

1. The awardee will be notified not later than February 28^th, 2026.

2. The awardee must accept the award within 10 days of notification by sending a confirmation e-mail to ulrike.ruprecht@plus.ac.at.

3. In accepting the grant, the awardee will be required to show his/her work by means of an oral presentation / flash talk /poster at the 10th Congress of the International Association for

Lichenology IAL10 which will take place in Trieste, 26-31 July 2026.

4. If the awardee does not present his/her work as referred to in paragraph 3, he/she will result in the non-awarding of the prize.

5. The awardee pays all costs in advance and will receive the amount of the grant (€ 500,--) after the event.

6. The awardee must be or become a member of the “Bryologisch-Lichenologische

Arbeitsgemeinschaft Mitteleuropas” (BLAM)
